The founder, Julie Skinner grew up in the fashion world, residing in Paris as her base for many years. After having her two children, she took them for a trip around the country of france to show them the beauty it holds. After returning to Southern California, she launched her retail home, french.US.
The home, how it was designed to be was a meeting place for community. It was designed to resemble a two bedroom home with a fully equipped chef's kitchen and full bathroom. You were encouraged to snoop around and sample the foods. Daytime and evening cooking classes and events were held regularly. It was an energetic home where clients always requested to move in to. You felt as if you were home.
During the process of Julie's divorce, she decided to close the shop to take care of her youngest child. Julie took the shop online and has since been renovating a convent in Provence to showcase soon.
